  Em novo, já servidor do Estado, visitou, em companhia dos Governadores de então, Tomaz da Rosa, Firmino da Costa e Custódio Borja, várias cidades como: Xangai, Pequim, Dili, Bangkok, Nagasaqui, lokohama e Tóquio.

  
  

  Ávido de aventuras e aspirando sempre a mais e melhor, foi admitido na capitania dos Portos, e colocado a bordo dos navios: Tâmega, Tejo, Zaire, Dio, Liberal e Corveta Estefânia, tendo tido o ensejo de visitor Swatow, Amoy, Foochao, Xangai, Tientsin, Manila, Singapura, Saigão, Penang, Colombo, Indias Holandesas, Turquia, Casablanca e Austrália.

  
  

  Anos depois foi a Portugal na companhia do Governador Custódio Borja, e ali foi colocado na Marinha, em Lisboa, onde exerceu a função de dispenseiro de I^a classe, per nove anos. Voltando para Macau foi nomeado para prestar serviço na Estação Naval a bordo da canhoneira «Liberal».

  
  

  Pouco depois, foi nomeado Fiel do Palácio, função essa que exerceu por 35 anos coin inexcedível zelo e competência.

  
  

  Uma vez aposentado pôde desviar e empregar a sua actividade em obras filantrópicas, porque foi sempre seu desejo auxiliar quem necessita.

  
  

  Assim, fez parte de várias associações chinesas de beneficência da Colónia, onde a sua acção muito se fez sentir.

  
  

  Em 1918, foi eleito vogal da Comissão Directora do Hospital Chinês «Kiang Wu», sendo nomeado director encarregado do pavilhão dos doentes internados. Desde então até 1942 trabalhou como vogal do mesmo Hospital (...)

  
  

  Em 1922 foi eleito vogal da Comissão Directora da Associação de Beneficência «Tong- Sin-Tong», sendo presidente da mesma desde 1930 ate morrer. (...) Sob a sua presidência, a referida Associação, com o fim de estabelecer uma forte segura de receitas para sua manutenção e para obras de beneficência, adquiriu muitos prédios com, fundos angariados por subscrições.

  
  

  Fez também instalar na mesma Associação uma escola gratuita primária de ambos os sexos, para ensino de chinês e português (...)

  
  

  Entre as várias funções públicas exercidas por ele, figuram as seguintes: Presidente da Associação Comercial Chinesa de Macau, eleito por duas vezes e vice-presidente por mais de dez vezes. Promotor da coustrução da nova sede da mesma Associação para a qual angariou milhares de patacas além da quantia de quinhentas patacas saída do seu próprio bolso. Presidente da Comissão Directora da Escola Gratuita "Peng Man"; Presidente da Associação Desportiva "Cheng Mou"; Presidente da Comissão Católica "Kung Kao"; Presidente da Associação de Nossa Senhora, por longos anos, e Presidente da Comissão da Procissão por mais de quarenta anos consecutivos; Vogal do Leal Senado da Câmara Provedor da Santa Casa da Misericórdia; Representante da Comunidade Chinesa; vocal do Conseiho do Governo.

  
  

  Foci ainda presidente da Comissão Directora do Colégio de Santa Rosa de Lima, da Escola «Song Sat" e da Escola "Mong Take"; Vogal da Comissão Directora da Escola "U Fan"; Conselheiro da Acção Católica Chinesa; Presidente da Sociedade de S. Vicente de Paulo da freguesia de S. Lázaro; Vice-Presidente da Comissão Encarregada da Repatriação dos chineses necessitados; Presidente da Comissão dos Festejos da Canonização de S. João Bosco; Presidente da Associação de Socorros Mútuos.

  
  

  Os fundos angariados por ele em benefício de várias associações são calculados em mais de 400.000 patacas.

  As a new employee of the State, he visited, in the company of then Governors Tomaz da Rosa, Firmino da Costa and Custódio Borja, various cities such as: Shanghai, Beijing, Dili, Bangkok, Nagasaqui, lokohama and Tokyo.

  
  

  Eager for adventures and always aspiring to more and better, he was admitted to the port authorities, and put on board the following ships: Tâmega, Tejo, Zaire, Dio, Liberal and Corvette Estefânia, and had the opportunity to visit Swatow, Amoy, Foochao, Shanghai, Tientsin, Manila, Singapore, Saigon, Penang, Colombo, Netherlands Indies, Turkey, Casablanca and Australia.
  

  
  

  Years later, he went to Portugal in the company of Governor Custódio Borja, and there he was placed in the Navy, in Lisbon, where he exercised the function of 1st class pharmacist(?) for nine years. Returning to Macau, he was appointed to serve at the Naval Station aboard the gunboat «Liberal».

  
  

  Shortly thereafter, he was appointed Cashier of the Palace, a role he exercised for 35 years with unsurpassed zeal and competence.

  
  

  Once retired, he was able to divert and use his activity in philanthropic works, because it was always his desire to help those in need.

  
  

  Thus, he was part of several Chinese charities of the Colony, where he was very effective.

  
  

  In 1918, he was elected member of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Hospital “Kiang Wu”, appointed director in charge of the inpatients. From then until 1942 he worked as a member of the board of the same Hospital (...)

  
  

  In 1922 he was elected member of the Steering Committee of the “Tong-Sin-Tong” Charitable Association, and was its president from 1930 until his death. (...) Under his presidency, the aforementioned Association, in order to establish a strong insurance revenue for its maintenance and for charitable works, acquired many buildings with funds raised by subscriptions.

  
  

  He also installed a free primary school for both sexes in the same Association to teach Chinese and Portuguese (...)

  
  

  Among his various public duties he was: President of the Chinese Commercial Association of Macau, elected twice and vice-president more than ten times; promoter of the construction of the new headquarters of the same Association for which he raised thousands of patacas, including 500 out of his own pocket; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Free School "Peng Man"; President of the "Cheng Mou" Sports Association; President of the Catholic Commission "Kung Kao"; President of the Association of Our Lady for many years, and President of the Procession Commission for more than forty consecutive years; Member of the Leal Senado Chamber; Director of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia; Representative of the Chinese Community; Member of the Council of Government.

  
  

  He was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Santa Rosa de Lima College, of the «Song Sat" School and of the "Mong Take" School; Member of the Board of Directors of the "U Fan" School; President of the St Vincent de Paul Society of the parish of S. Lázaro; Vice-President of the Commission in Charge of Repatriation of Needy Chinese; President of the Commission for the Celebration of the Canonisation of St John Bosco; President of the Mutual Aid Association.

  
  

  The funds raised by him for the benefit of various associations are estimated at more than 400,000 patacas.

  
  

  He had the following decorations: Commendation of the Order of Christ (1933), Medal of the Portuguese Red Cross Society (with his portrait at the headquarters of the Red Cross in Lisbon), Commander of the Portuguese Red Cross and Military Medal for Good Behavior.¹
